SUMMER DISCOVERY CAMPS 2010

Your child is creative and energetic!  The CMC has the right combination of hands-on learning activities to inspire your child to have a fun and imaginative summer.

All of our multidisciplinary Discovery Camps offer science experiments, art exploration, music and movement and free-play in Museum exhibits and outdoor garden.  Camps welcome 4, 5 and 6 year old children.  A multi-age curriculum has been developed that will encourage teamwork and creativity.  New themes added this year are Invent It!, Healthier Ever After, Art Meets Science, Eco Kids, and Island Explorers.  Returning favorites include Superhero Science, Kitchen Chemistry, and Dinosaur Dig.

“We were very impressed with the camp. The instructor’s enthusiasm was infectious and our son had a great time. It was well organized and the museum provided great communication before, during and after the camp. Thanks!”

Art Meets Science  ~  July 12 – July 16

What could be more imaginative and educational than discovering the art of science? Each day campers will learn a specific scientific principle and then use it in an art project to take home. Campers will discover the science of three dimensional art using principles such as balance and cause and effect through the works of Alexander Calder. Van Gough and Pollack will act as illustrations of how motion and gravity influence an artist’s work. Each day will become a new adventure as campers explore the wonder of discovering where art meets science! Parents will be invited to our very own gallery exhibit of our pieces on the last day of camp.
